An overcurrent circuit breaker is a component of an electrical installation that provides protection against the effects of short circuits and overloads of electrical equipment. Its task is to break the continuity of the circuit when the current flowing in the circuit exceeds the safe value for the circuit. Overcurrent circuit breakers with characteristic curve C are characterised by delayed action. They are used to protect devices with increased starting current, e.g. motors.
