➡️ A surge arrester is a device that protects against transient overvoltages by limiting the frequency and duration of the follow-current. These devices are also known as lightning arresters, surge protectors or varistors. Surge arresters protect equipment connected to the mains and are also an essential component in the protection of solar installations.<\/span><\/p>\n

➡️ Type 2 surge arresters (T2 or Class C) are used to divert surges caused by overloads resulting from circuit switching operations (with an 8\/20 \u03bcs waveform). Type 2 surge arresters should be installed downstream of the main switchboards (which also contain Type 1 surge arresters) in the distribution network, in sub-switchboards (and, in multi-occupancy buildings, in the switchboards of individual flats).<\/span><\/p>\n
