➡️ A surge arrester is a device that protects against transient overvoltages by limiting the frequency and duration of the follow-current. These devices are also known as lightning arresters, surge protectors or varistors. Surge arresters protect equipment connected to the mains and are also an essential component in the protection of solar installations.<\/span><\/p>\n

➡️ T1\/T2 (\u2018combined\u2019) surge arresters are used to divert high-power surge currents with a 10\/350 \u03bcs waveform, which occur as a result of lightning strikes in three-phase and single-phase power supply networks (overhead lines) and\/or surges caused by overloads resulting from circuit switching (with an 8\/20 \u03bcs waveform). They are designed as compact units. Surge arresters comprising Type 1 and Type 2 (T1\/T2) protection units must be installed downstream of the first short-circuit protection device, immediately after the electricity meter (in the main switchboard).<\/span><\/p>\n
